About the project

"In this project, I experienced how great it is to watch theatrr. I want to go to the theatre a lot with my kids later, and for now I'm going to take my little brother!" (Participant, Junior Crew Rüsselsheim)

The project set itself the goal of providing children and young people in the Rhine-Main region with diverse, easily accessible encounters with theatre. As Junior Crew, they are allowed to play a vital decisive role in –pitching in, -talking about, -watching, -discovering, researching, -experiencing theatre.

Over the course of an entire season, participants between the ages of 7 and 18 explore the region's various theatre venues by visiting shows, attending workshops, and taking behind-the-scenes tours. The highlight is the "Starke Stücke" festival, in which they are involved as active participants.

All Junior Crew activities are based on the following project goals:

Getting to know worlds. Children and teens are considered to be a natural part of the whole project. In joint encounters and active exchanges between adults and young people, perspectives, perceptions and 'worlds' blend into something new and unique.

Experiencing theatre. Only those who experience theatre with all their senses can develop a fascination and enthusiasm for it. Therefore, the Junior Crew is invited to explore the 'world of theatre' in all its facets.

Training perception. In order to articulate their own theatre experiences, the Junior Crew learns ways to talk about their impressions, feelings, thoughts, to describe them, to formulate them.

Discovering a festival. Amidst the lively festival events, the Junior Crew has access to a wide range of experiences and opportunities to discover the festival and play an active role in shaping it.
